Fianna Fáil TD Marc MacSharry has resigned from the parliamentary Fianna Fail party and will express his distrust of Foreign Affairs Minister Simon Coveney by voting no confidence later this evening.

The Dáil will debate and vote on a vote of confidence in Mr Coveney tonight.

According to RTE, MacSharry said, “I was elected to serve a democratic republic – not one which applies different rules and sanctions depending on the identity or the position of people involved.”
